Contact seller4-star sellerITEM #1. UNTO THESE HILLS. A DRAMA OF THE CHEROKEE, 1540-1950. 36 pages plus covers. Staple-bound magazine style publication; H 30.25cm x L 22.75cm. Paper covers; front cover decorated with title lettering against a thick red band at top and large b/w photograph of a scene from the stage play followed by a thin red band at bottom; advertisement for Asheville, North Carolina Coca-Cola Bottling Company on white back cover. Modest soiling to covers, creasing to lower fore-edge and bottom right corner of front cover as well as at its top left corner with a small slender patch of surface scuffing within top red band, spine fold scuffed with 3cm tear at head and 1cm tear at heel. Light foxing upon interior leaves mostly at margins. Does not feature any part of the play's text but rather was published as an extended playbill with adulatory biographical essays regarding the play's author Kermit Hunter and director Harry Davis on pages 1-2. Cast of characters, actors, staff, etc. listed and pictured on pages 4-15. Remaining text features articles regarding the development of the Cherokee Mountainside Theatre and the Cherokee Historical Association, a three-part essay "The Story of the Cherokee" by Kermit Hunter on pages 20-24, essay "The American Indian in North Carolina" by Dr. Douglas L. Rights, "The Eastern Cherokees Today" by Joe Jennings, "The Great Smokies" by Bill Sharpe, etc. plus concluding four pages of advertisements. This publication is for the very first summer season - July 1 to September 4, 1950 - for UNTO THESE HILLS which the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians still sponsors every summer with the performances still acted at The Mountainside Theatre in Cherokee, North Carolina near Asheville and Gatlinburg, Tennessee. A good+ copy. Laid-in is a tourist pamphlet (folded dimensions: H 22.75cm x L 10.25cm) promoting the play; double-sided printing unfolds to a total of four panels (two on verso and two on recto); albeit undated it is presumably also issued for the play's 1950 summer season; some toning but otherwise fine. ITEM #2. I WILL LIFT MINE EYES . . . UNTO THESE HILLS. 44 pages plus covers. Staple-bound magazine style publication; H 30.25cm x L 23cm. Color pictorial covers. Introduction by Harry E. Buchanan, Chairman of ht Cherokee Historical Association. Pages 2-3 with essays regarding author Kermit Hunter and Director Harry Davis. Summaries of actors, production staff, management, etc. No date specified but brief biographical summary regarding North Carolina Governor Luther Hodges mentions his 1956 election so presumably the publication was issued for the 1957 summer performance season. Three pages of ads at rear plus both sides of rear cover. A very good copy.…

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - This study aims to examine the job-related experiences of U.S. military veterans after their transition from active military service to civilian employment, with a particular focus on the effectiveness of the Department of Defense Transition Assistance Program (TAP). Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, the study compares the experiences of 25 veterans who attended TAP workshops with those of six veterans who did not participate. Based on survey data from veterans across all five U.S. military service branches, the research explores whether participation improves employment opportunities and job-related outcomes. The findings indicate that TAP participants did not experience better employment outcomes than non-participants. The study therefore highlights the need for further research into the effectiveness of transition assistance programs and their role in supporting veterans' integration into the civilian workforce.…

The Veil, fiction by Josephs. 3 poems by Strayer. One, Inc., which took its name from Thomas Carlyle's statement that "A mystic bond of brotherhood makes all men one," was founded in LA in 1952 as a homophile organization with connections to the Mattachine Society. As the first pro-gay journal of its kind, it serves as an important source for pre-Stonewall homophile studies. In 1954 the US Post Office declared it obscene, leading to a four-year legal battle (chronicled in its pages) that concluded with a favorable decision as part of Roth vs. United States. Aside from its articles covering topics ranging from the Beatniks and Gay marriage to homosexuality and national security, One Magazine also featured poetry and short fiction by numerous prominent authors.…
