La revue Fontaine fondée par Max-Pol Fouchet en 1939 est la principale revue de la résistance intellectuelle française pendant la seconde guerre mondiale. Depuis Alger, Fontaine rallia tous les poètes, artistes et écrivains hostiles à la collaboration. De 1942 à 1944, à Limoges où résidait Georges-Emmanuel Clancier, étaient collectés les articles et poèmes écrits en France occupée, et envoyés à Albert Béguin à Genève puis expédiés à Tanger. Et de là en Algérie par Georges Blin.
