Red cloth soiled; spine's white stamped title block near head quite flaked/rubbed with associated loss to lettering; front board's top half decorated with white stamped centered oval and radiating…swastika arms all mildly marred by some flaking, rubbing, and soiling but with lettering still easily legible. Edges toned and foxed with some soiling. Ink ownership inscription on front free endpaper; majority of interior pages remain quite clean but there is scattered light soiling and occasional light foxing and toning with latter two most prevalent on pages opposite book's b/w plates. Binding is firm. A very good- copy of a quite uncommon pioneering book in the field of academic analysis of sales marketing and administration. Professor Herbert W. Hess chaired the merchandising department at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School where he innovated marketing instruction by researching advertising and salesmanship. Wharton's website notes that Hess "initiated one of the earliest investigations of consumer preferences by analyzing such factors as crowd psychology, sense experience, instinct, memory, and attention." With Preface, Introduction, b/w plates on unpaged leaves, two "Sales Analysis" foldouts between pages 258-259, foldout chart between pages 316-317, Bibliography, and Index.
