The text block shows staple punches about a quarter inch in from the binding edge, suggesting the gathering was originally stapled as wraps before being cased in cloth by the publisher.In Very Good condition, no dust jacket. Red cloth-covered boards with cream cloth spine, gilt-stamped title on the front board above a large gilt-stamped Society seal. Mild shelf wear with light spotting and soiling to the spine cloth and some color loss along edges and corners of the red cloth. Binding is tight and square. Previous owner's attractive Art Deco bookplate on the front pastedown depicting a young sailor reading beneath stylized full-rigged ships.
