In the end, the author was not able to purchase as many manuscripts as he would have liked as some of the monasteries had become aware of the value of these texts and were no longer willing to sell them. This book provides insights into the world of manuscript collection in the mid-19th century and the challenges faced by those attempting to recover and preserve ancient texts. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
