Das Buch will den Leser ermutigen, die ehenamtliche Arbeit bei der Wiederansiedlung auf allen Ebenen zu unterstützen, damit in absehbarer Zeit ausreichen viele Wanderfische in das Rheinsystem zurückkehren und ihre Bestände eigenständig erhalten können. Salmon have been caught in the narrow valley between St. Goar, St. Goarshausen and Oberwesel for over 1000 years. The so-called "Loreleysalm" had an excellent culinary reputation far beyond the region. All facets of salmon fishing are explained in this book: the exact location of the individual fishing spots, historical fishing methods, trade, processing and transport as well as the economic importance for the country and its people over the course of history. Why the Salme disappeared completely from the Rhine in the last century and the traditional salmon fishing in the 30s of the last century also had to be stopped at the remaining fishing spots on the Kammereck near Oberwesel is just as part of this work as the special biology of the noble migratory fish and its requirements an intact environment. The book wants to encourage the reader to support the voluntary work with the resettlement on all levels, so that in the foreseeable future enough migratory fish can return to the Rhine system and maintain their stocks independently. 168 pp., 101 figs, hardcover gr. 8 [19.5 x 27.7 cm].
