Lovibond Red Glasses are used in combination with a 35 Yellow glass in the color grading of vegetable oils, especially in the cottonseed oil industry. Although Lovibond glasses had previously been us…ed in this industry, they were graded very inconsistently. The research in this book went into the creation of a new scale of values for the glasses based on spectral transmission measurements made in combination with a 35 yellow. This scale allowed for the additive assignment of glass values, which greatly improved the accuracy of vegetable oil grading with these glasses. The work described is foundational in the history of the cottonseed oil industry and is the basis for the color grading standards still in use today. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
