This is a witty and humorous edition of Carroll's famous poem. The text and preliminary pages for this edition have been set from a copy of the first edition, published by Macmillan & Co. in 1876. The illustrator, Harold Jones (1904 - 1992) was a British artist, illustrator and writer of children's books. Critic Brian Alderson called him "perhaps the most original children's book illustrator of the period," [Wikipedia] Bound in black cloth with gilt titling and decorative border on front cover and gilt titling to spine. Housed in a black paper covered slipcase. Printed in Caslon type on mouldmade paper made at St Cuthbert's Mill.
