Geale had his book on Italy plagiarized by the American politician James Walter Wall who ".was a shameless literary plagiarist: entire pages of description of Italy.were sto…len without attribution." This has not been a problem with this work; although it is held by major research libraries, it remains rare in the trade. This copy is disbound, lacking the title page. The textblock, however, contains all 88 pages, and is bright and clear. First published in 1842; a previous owner has noted in pencil that this is the Second Edition from 1845. Witrhout the TP, a correct determination is difficult. The book is fragile, with most of the sewn signatures now loose. Please note the condition issues; Quercus must offer this as a Binding Copy, in need of repair or restoration, An excellent candidate for a nice rebind. Second Edition. Disbound. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
