Decorative pictorial binding is striking and well preserved save for a 3 inch closed tear to the binding cloth from the top edge of the front external hinge. . Mild bruising and superficial abrasion to cloth at corners. Page block edges with original red stain as issued. Binding shaken and with half-title and frontis leaves leaves loose from the binding. A plate mid- text loose an starting. Printed on heavy glossy stock paper, a little toned but readable. Flawed but attractive still. G+ . Oversize book may require additional charges for expedited or international shipping.

Die Breite der angesprochenen Themen reicht von der Erläuterung wesentlicher… geologischer Grundbegriffe über Prozesse im Erdinneren bis hin zu Oberflächenprozessen und schließt mit Rohstoff- und Lagerstättenkunde ab. Am Ende werden geotechnisches Bauen, Mülldeponien und Endlager knapp umrissen. Das Material ist reichhaltig und anschaulich illustriert und inhaltlich auf bemerkenswert aktuellem Stand. Das Buch verlässt an keiner Stelle seinen einführenden Charakter, für Interessierte ist jedoch reichlich weiter führende Literatur angegeben. Die Autoren schaffen es mühelos einen Bogen zwischen Allgemeiner und Angewandter Geologie zu schlagen, sind in der Themenwahl jedoch sehr oberflächen-prozessorientiert. Rohstoff und Lagerstättenkunde werden entgegen dem Buchtitel nur nebenbei abgehandelt, ähnlich wie die chemischen Aspekte der Umweltgeologie nur in Grundzügen erläutert werden. Das Buch ist somit besonders für Einsteiger in die Geowissenschaften geeignet, nicht zuletzt, weil auch die englischen Fachbezeichnungen angeben werden, was dem Neuling eine große Hilfe sein wird. Als Student hätte ich mich über eine so gut verständliche und kompakte Zusammenfassung gefreut, weniger jedoch über den Preis, der das Budget der Zielgruppe wohl etwas übersteigen dürfte.Rezensent Valentin R.
