No Greater Love Rembrandt, one of the greatest painters the world has ever known, did something amazing in his universally respected work, The Raising of the Cross. He included himself in the painting as one of those who crucified Jesus! It's a truth we each need to acknowledge for ourselves. Why would he do that? Why would Rembrant do such a thing? Because he believed what the Bible says about us--that we have all failed God and are guilty before him. "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23), and "the wages of sin is death [eternal separation from God in a place of punishment]" (Romans 6:23).
