Slightly better than very good condition in a nearly fine dustwrapper. With a new Foreword by John Wyatt, Head Warden, Lake District National Park. He writes: 'The author of this little gem of a guide is unknown. but, Sylvan's Handbook is still not only capable of helping the new adventurer intto the bewitching wilderness: it is also very much a book for browsers.' First published in 1847 by John Johnstone, republished in this edition in 1974 by Evans & Longley Associates. Red cloth boards, gilt title to spine. B/w illustrations & maps. 248 pages including index plus folding map to rear. Minor rubbing to base of spine. Text block slightly grubby. Contents clean. Blue pictorial dustwrapper is very lightly browned. Packaged with care and promptly dispatched!
