Both published by Cassell and Company in c.1910 and 1913 respectively.London Town is a very scarce new edition of Hutching's previous work London Town: Past and Present, while London Life is an abridged edition of three volume set first published in 1901.In the publisher's cloth, with a frontispiece in each volume. London Life contains numerous in-text illustrations and four lovely colour plates, while London Town contains numerous in-text illustrations and five beautifully illustrated plates. Collated complete.Both volumes are entertaining and informative volumes on the iconic city. In London Life, George R. The binder has muddled up the contents pages somewhat - volume 1 has the correct contents lists for Sections 1 and 2, but Vol 2 Sect II's contents page has been included in Volume III, and the contents lists for both Sections of Vol III are missing. 29x22, uniform green cloth with attractive glt decoration. Allowing for the error with the contents pages, a very nice complete set; slight bumping to the cloth, but still very nice and bright, very good thus. Published originally is six sections, then bound as three volumes as here, this is a wonderful evocation of the capital city, and pretty much every aspect of the place and its people at the beginning of the 20th Century.
