Full text of letter reads: "Dear Doctor: You have my thanks for the kind expression contained in yours of the 10th. After full consideration of the so-called Anti-Vaccination bill, I decided that… it was my duty to veto it. ? With regard to Senate Bill 706, while I am heartily in accord with the spirit of the movement, I do not see where the money is coming from to support a new State institution at this time. The enclosed copy of a letter I have written to Dr. F. M. Potenger will explain this, I think. Very Truly Yours, Geo. C. Pardee [signature], Governer." Pardee was governor during the 1906 Earthquake. Said insitution is probably an early medical school in San Francisco, perhaps. Very Fine.

H was a progressive Republican who fought the Southern Pacific for public control of the port of Oakland. He was denied the nomination by the railroad wing of the party. Small chipping to the spine and cover. Very good clean copy.
