Jones, on two separate missions, visited Indians resident of the Ohio River and his journals formed the account of the "manners, customs, language, and religious belief of a people now almost extinct." One of his companions on a canoe trip from Fort Pitt (now Pittsburgh) was the famous George Rogers Clarke, who has been termed the "Washington of the West."His efforts were directed mainly toward the Shawnee and Delaware Indians. Book contains five portraits and two maps, all in near fine condition with minimal toning. Half-title bound in the back of the volume. A near fine copy in collectible condition, with mild wear to the extremities. Book.
