Neuware - Der aus Bamberg stammende Carl Simon Fried (1889-1958) glich als Jugendlicher vielen anderen jungen Juden seiner Zeit: Studium, tiefe Verbundenheit mit der deutschen Kultur, Freiwilliger im Ersten Weltkrieg und der Wille, etwas Bleibendes zu leisten. Er wählte als Chirurg ein ungewöhnliches Thema: die Wirkungen von Röntgenstrahlen in kleinen Dosen auf Entzündungen, womit er sich große fachliche Anerkennung erwarb. Daneben war er politisch aktiv und schrieb Gedichte. Als Leiter einer größeren Abteilung am Jüdischen Krankenhaus in Breslau sah er sich den Repressionen der Nazis ausgesetzt und wurde bei einer Razzia am Tag nach der Pogromnacht verhaftet und in das Konzentrationslager Buchenwald deportiert. Er kam frei, und es gelang ihm, mit seiner Frau und den beiden Söhnen in die USA und später nach Brasilien zu flüchten. Sein früher Tod beendete eine - wie seine Frau es nannte - harmonische Zusammenarbeit. Er hinterließ ca. 100 wissenschaftliche Arbeiten in verschiedenen Sprachen und eine kleine Veröffentlichung von Gedichten. Die Recherchen für diese Miniatur brachten eine größere Zahl von Gedichten zutage, die überraschende Einblicke in sein Leben bieten.…
