Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Der Mangel einer Darstellung über die mathematisch-statistischen Ver fahren, die der Naturwissenschafter verschiedener Fächer, so auch der Botaniker, Zoologe, Anthropologe und Erblichkeitsforscher, aber auch der Mediziner und andere sich bei seinen… Untersuchungen zunutze machen könnte, war mir schon vor manchen Jahren aufgefallen. Als ich in Uppsala (Schweden) wohnte und dort in Arbeitsbeziehungen stand zu dem Schwe dischen Staatsinstitut für Rassenbiologie (Statens Institutet för Rasbiologi), besprach ich den empfundenen Mangel öfters mit dem damaligen zweiten Leiter dieses Instituts, dem jetzigen Professor für Statistik an der Universität Uppsala, meinem Freunde J. Linders. Er war unter den Mathematikern und Statistikern Europas wohl einer der wenigen, die selbst biologischen Stoff, insbesondere rassenkundlichen und vererbungswissenschaftlichen, bearbeiteten und die damit ermessen konnten, wie viel oder wie wenig Brauchbares und für den Mathematiker Stichhaltiges und Zweckmäßiges diejenigen mathematischen Ausführungen enthielten, die in verschiedenen Lehrbüchern von Anthropologen oder Erblichkeitsforschern selbst verfaßt oder übernommen worden waren. Daß hier noch manches mangelhaft oder unzweckmäßig war, hatte ich zwar vermutet, durfte ich aber von meinen mathematischen Kenntnissen aus nicht aussprechen; wohl aber gab in Unterhaltungen darüber ein Sachkenner wie J. Linders manchen meiner Vermutungen recht. Später bei meiner Lehrtätigkeit an der Universität Jena lag mir daran, Studierenden des von mir vertretenen Faches eine Unterweisung in den statistischen Verfahren zu verschaffen, und ich bat den Verfasser dieses Buches, der an der Universität Jena lehrte, für Naturwissenschafter eine entsprechende Vorlesung zu halten. Bei dem Bevollmächtigten für das Gesundheitswesen Karl Brandt war Ringleb ab 1944 noch Angehöriger des wissenschaftlichen Beirates. Ab 1924 war er a.o. Professor und ab 1937 o. Professor an der Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität zu Berlin. Dort war er Inhaber des ersten deutschen Lehrstuhls für Urologie.
