There is a new preface and the aforementioned Advertisment to the New Ediiton as well as new material on the Califonia Gold Rush region. Very good, bit of shallow wear head of spine; there is a tear to page 203/204 with slight loss of text. …

This "new edition" was timed to coincide with the great California Gold Rush and to encourage the "forty-niners" with added articles on the gold regions of California including Colonel Mason's "Official Report", routes to and physical geography of California.
