Condition: Nuevo.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Neuware - 'Sol Salutis' is a profound scholarly exploration into the relationship between early Christian liturgical practices and the solar traditions of the Greco-Roman world. Written by the esteemed theologian and historian Dr. Franz Joseph Dölger, this work meticulously examines how the early Church adopted and reinterpreted solar imagery to express core theological concepts of salvation and the light of Christ. The study delves into the historical origins of specific Christian customs, such as praying toward the East and the identification of Christ as the 'Sun of Justice.' Dölger analyzes a wealth of ancient sources, including liturgical texts, early hymns, and archaeological evidence, to illustrate how the cultural environment of late antiquity shaped the prayer life and symbolic language of the burgeoning faith. By investigating the transition from pagan solar cults to Christian worship, the book provides essential insights into the development of Christian identity and ritual. 'Sol Salutis' remains a foundational text for those interested in church history, the evolution of the liturgy, and the complex interplay between religion and culture in the ancient world. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
