Cloth clean and sound, very faint mark to cover edge. Spine gilt very slightly rubbed but still bright and legible. Previous owners name on front endpaper. A little light foxing in places, text slightly browned but contents clean and tight. VG copy of a scarce edition of Franklins works.

Original margins, etc. has not been rebound. This is a small book, about 3" X 5" with brown marbled boards and a leather spine, gold lettering. Edges are rubbed and rounded. The first sentence begins with "My Dear Son, I have amused myself with collecting some little anecdotes of my family." Page 187 has a small edge tear with a few words missing on 8 lines of text (the print is very small but readable). B & W frontispiece.

Bound in the publisher's paper covered boards; the spine mostly expired and lacking to the second volume, the front board held by two cords only, the first volume remaining broadly intact. The corners bumped resulting in minor losses, the boards a little rubbed. The hinges delicate, with some straining to the binding on occasion. An early British edition of Franklin's works.
