Ich spreche von denen, die sich mit ihrer Klugheit brüsten. Die sind nur noch hingebungsvoller beschäftigt. Um besser leben zu können, richten sie ihr Leben auf Kosten ihres Lebens ein. Sie denken und planen auf lange Sicht; doch man verliert am meisten von seinem Leben durch Aufschub" (S.13; jenen ins Stammbuch, die als junge Erwachsenen schon ihr Alter planen); "Vielbeschäftigte Gemüter können sich, als wären sie ins Joch gespannt, nicht umwenden und zurückblicken. So sinkt denn ihr Leben ins Bodenlose, und so, wie es nichts hilft, wenn du auch noch so viel nachschüttest, falls drunten nichts ist, was es halten und bewahren könnte, so spielt es keine Rolle, wieviel Zeit man erhält, wenn es nichts gibt, wo sie bleiben könnte" (S.15; ein Plädoyer für die Lebenskunst - und gegen jene, die, dem Arbeitsjoch entronnen, dann nichts mehr mit sich anzufangen wissen als mediale Dauerberieselung über sich ergehen zu lassen); "Wie vielen kostet ihre Redekunst und der krankhafte Drang, sich täglich als Talent zu produzieren, den letzten Blutstropfen! Wie viele sind blass von dauernden Ausschweifungen! Wie viele haben keine freie Minute mehr, weil sie Klienten in Scharen umringen!" (S.17; ach, wer mag da nicht an Dschnungelcamp-B-Promis, YoutuberInnen & Co. denken!); "Alle Geschäftigen befinden sich in einer üblen Lage, am übelsten aber sind jene dran, die sich nicht einmal mit eigenen Geschäften plagen, sondern nur, wenn ein anderer schläft, auch schlafen und nach eines anderen Tritt die Füße setzen. Sogar Liebe und Hass, was sich am allerwenigsten erzwingen lässt, wird ihnen anbefohlen. Sollten solche Leute wissen wollen, wie kurz ihr eigenes Leben sei, müssen sie überlegen, zu welchem Teil es das ihre ist" (S.83; oh, Mitläufer dieser Erde, Denunzianten, ihr alle, die ihr den Mantel nach der Macht dreht und die Fahne beim Nationalspiel schwenkt, hört und lest!).
