Roger Charles Louis Guillemin was a French-American neuroscientist who received the National Medal of Science in 1976, and the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 1977 for his work on neurohormones. On the blank front free-endpaper, nicely signed by the editor, William S. Fields (1930-1987), one of Texas' first neurologists and a pioneer in testing the role of aspirin in treatment and prevention of strokes, and inscribed to the prior owner.
