In her accounts of life in Peace River, she sought to divert attention away from herself. Firmly in the tradition of generations of women workers in the church, as much social worker as spiritual leader, she found a useful niche for her talents and interests. In the process she smoothed and enriched the lives of others . women and children in the far-ranging neighbourhood, and her own Companion [of the Peace] . Storrs was conscious of a burden placed upon her that was not placed upon male clergy. When she felf dispirited because of complaints about 'this objectionable quality of Englishness' levelled against her, she sight, 'The funny thing is that although Brother Wolfe [the rector, George Wolfendale] is just as English as we are, it doesn't go against him so much.
