Bridges was a French-born author, living in the UK since childhood. He is particularly known for his works of children's fiction, including this novel which was part of his adventure series, and his Lost World novels. This particular novel tells the story of Martin Vaile, named in the title as Martin Crusoe, as he adventures to Wizard Island, which turns out to be a relic of Atlantis, the lost city.
