Ecrivain et poète caustique, qui verse complaisamment dans la grivoiserie, la scatologie et même le blasphème, Etienne Tabourot (1549-1590) était en fait un juriste sérieux, son oeuvre la plus célèbre : Les bigarrures, est une collection de jeux de mots et de langage. Contrairement à ce que dit Remy de Gourmont, qui décrit l'ouvrage commeun manuel à l'usage des poètes excentriques, il s'agit plutôt pour l'auteur de recenser l'ensemble des possibilités qu'offre la langue pour jouer avec les mots dans un sens comique. Le livre se divise ainsi en 22 chapitres, chacun traitant d'un jeu de langue :des rebus de Picardie, des équivoques françois, des antistrophes ou contrepèteries, des anagrammes, des épitaphes. Les Touches sont un recueil de poésies. Les escraignes dijonnaises sont basés sur le modèle avoué du Décaméron de Boccace, les protagonistes racontant des histoires comiques, grivoises. Les contes facétieux sont une suite d'anecdotes, toujours dans le même ton propre à l'auteur, à la fois comique, satirique, léger et irrévérencieux. Leaves 5 to 26 systematically inverted: 6 before 5, 7 before 6. but without lack; likewise leaves 26 to 32 of Les touches du seigneur des accords. Gathering D is missing from Les touches, being leaves 36 to 48. Numerous pagination errors. A caustic writer and poet, who indulged complacently in ribaldry, scatology and even blasphemy, Etienne Tabourot (1549-1590) was in fact a serious jurist, his most famous work: Les bigarrures, i (10f.) 181ff. et (4f.) 50ff. ; 35ff. 49-64ff. ; 59ff. ; 59ff.
