Offprint from American Journal of Archaeology, 1959. A thorough review of this volume. Henry George Fischer (1923-2006). ~[Librarium of The Hague offers the largest and finest collection of Egyptological offprint monographs in the rare book market. With the acquisition in recent years of multiple Egyptological libraries (those of Prof. Herman te Velde; Prof. Mathieu Heerma van Voss, Prof. Baudouin van de Walle; Prof. Michel Malaise; Prof. Herman De Meulenaere; Egyptologist Jacobus Visser, and former Trustee of the Egypt Exploration Society, Stewart Dale White), we now hold several thousands of rare offprint monographs which were collected over many years by these scholars. Very limited in number when originally issued and fragile by nature, most are by now practically extinct and the scarce survivors are much sought after. We took upon ourselves to collate, catalogue, and identify each item in accordance with Beinlich-Seeber or Annual Egyptological Bibliography, in the hope that this collection will prove useful for scholars and collectors alike. Your queries are most welcome] OFP-S. ~ ~ NOTE: TOTAL REDUCTION SALE: THE PRICE OF THIS BOOK IS CURRENTLY REDUCED! ~ ~ (illustrator).…

The elephant folio paperback (pp. xiv), which contains a preface and list of plates, has a very small soiling spot on the title page but is otherwise clean, complete and securely bound. The figure and plates, which are complete, also appear clean with the exception of a small area in the top margin of plate 22 where the burgundy cloth hinge of the top flap appears to have lightly rubbed and stained the plate. The portfolio features paper-covered boards (pink), quarter-bound in burgundy cloth, with top, bottom and fore-edge cardboard flaps also being secured with burgundy cloth hinges. Includes a black string tie on the fore-edge. There are a couple of small stains on the binding in front, rubbed bottom corners, and a 1.25 tear along the rear spine edge from the top. Other wear to the portfolio is minimal. NOT an ex-library copy. **The size, weight and value of this rare, out-of-print item makes shipping somewhat problematic.
