Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Near Fine. First Edition; First Printing. The Art Institute of Chicago acquired Belgian artist James Ensor's (1860-1949) "The Temptation of St. Anthony" which is comprised of 51 sheets and is considered to be one of his great works. This book was published in conjunction with an exhibition that ran November 23, 2014 through January 25, 2015 at the The Art Institute of Chicago and also from June 10 through September 7, 2014 at the The J. Paul Getty Museum (which had previously acquired Ensor's "Christ's Entry Into Brussels in 1889"). Original publisher's orange paper covered boards with black spine and cover lettering. This is a nice clean, tight and unmarked book with no interior or exterior markings, no previous owner names and no bookplates. The unusual dust jacket covers only the lower half of the book (as issued) and is also in nice condition with no creases, tears, chips or markings. This is a very pretty book that would make a fine addition to any library. ; Color & B&W Illustrations; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 168 pages.…

Paperback. Condition: New. This Companion offers a capacious overview of American environmental literature and criticism. Tracing environmental literatures from the gates of the Manzanar War Relocation Camp in California to the island of St. Croix, from the notebooks of eighteenth-century naturalists to the practices of contemporary activists, this book offers readers a broad, multimedia definition of 'literature', a transnational, settler colonial comprehension of America, and a more-than-green definition of 'environment'. Demonstrating links between ecocriticism and such fields as Black feminism, food studies, decolonial activism, Latinx studies, Indigenous studies, queer theory, and carceral studies, the volume reveals the persistent relevance of literary methods within the increasingly interdisciplinary field of Environmental Humanities, while also modeling practices of literary reading shaped by this interdisciplinary turn. The result is a volume that will prove indispensable both to students seeking an overview of American environmental literature/criticism and to established scholars seeking new approaches to the field.…

Paperback. Condition: Like New. First Edition. In nearly new condition: firm and square with strong joints, no creases. Just a few hardly noticeable rubs or very mild bumps. Hence a non-text page shows a small 'damaged' stamp. Despite such this book looks and feels unread. Thus the contents are crisp, fresh and tight. And so a very nice book in great condition, now offered for sale at a reasonable price.…
