Condition: Very good condition. A signed photograph of a tennis match with the caption in the photo entitled 'Palm Beach Presentation' with Ellsworth Vines of United States, World's Professional Champion vs. Fred Perry of England, World's Amateur Champion, at the Everglades Club on February 1st, 1937.' Signed in pen by both players. A full court shot taken from the stands with Perry in foreground and Vines in background. Vines [1911-1994] was a winner of 3 Grand Slams: Wimbledon 1932, U.S. 1931, 1932, World's No. 1 player 1932, 1935-37. He became a professional tennis player in 1934 and later in his career a professional golfer. Fred Perry [1909-1995] was a World Champion table tennis player and the World's No. 1 amateur tennis player 1934-1936, Wimbledon champion 1934-36, U.S. Singles Champ 1933, 1934, 1936, and Australian Singles Champ 1934. Perry began his professional tennis career in January of 1937, so this match photo is an early part of the Vine vs. Perry tour. The photographer was J.F. Kirkton. 10 x 8", b&w, signed in pen, with title superimposed over the image. Several marks on center and upper margin of image, slt. sunned at left, still a pleasant photo.
