'Biographical Note on the Author. Born Tullow, Co. Carlow. Early education from Brigidine Nuns and Patrician Brothers. Went to Knockbeg College and thence to Maynooth College. Active interest in Shakesperian plays. Studied music under Gustav Haan at Knockbeg and under Father Heinrich Bewerunge at Maynooth . On leaving Maynooth, was appointed on the staff of Carlow College, where he taught languages; Revived the Carlow College magazine under the title "The Carlovian" . Availed of long College vacations for Continental travel. At outbreak of the First World War was appointed Rector of Knockbeg College. While there became a close friend and associate of many of the leaders in the Resistance Movement, including Michael Collins, Kevin O'Higgins, Gearoid O'Sullivan, Rory O'Connor and Padraic Fleming . In 1920 the author was appointed to parochial work in Naas, where he has been Parish Priest since 1938.'.
