Dernière édition ancienne de ce roman de chevalerie rédigé en français par Pierre Desrey de Troyes (né vers 1450 - mort après 1519), d'après la chronique de Vincent de Beauvais (Speculum Historiale). Pierre Desrey a traduit et agrémenté le texte de Vincent de Beauvais et y a ajouté une continuation tirée de plusieurs manuscrits de chroniques médiévales. Le prologue de l'auteur est daté de 1419 mais la première édition imprimée semble être celle de 1504. Dans cette chronique, l'auteur fait de Godefroy de Bouillon et de ses frères les descendants du fameux chevalier au cygne, célèbre personnage légendaire du Moyen Âge qui nourrit de nombreuses chroniques et chansons de geste. "Ce roman a été rédigé par Pierre Desrey de Troyes, lequel, dans son prologue daté de l'an M.CCCC. quatre vingt dix neuf, dit que ce sont des chapitres de Vincent de BEAUVAIS (Speculum historiale, lib. XXV, cap. 96 et seqq.), qu'il a translaté en français. Ce translateur y a ajouté une continuation tirée de divers manuscrits. L'édition de 1504 est la plus ancienne que je connaisse, mais la date du prologue en peut faire supposer une antérieure à 1504." (Brunet, II, 1636). Notons que dans cette chronique médiévale le chevalier au cygne serait l'ancêtre de Godefroy de Bouillon, qui par le biais du "Parzival" de Wolfram d'Eschenbach, deviendra Lohengrin.
