Fraser was a well-born, well-bred, well-educated Charleston portrait painter in the first half of the 19th century who also studied law. Includes chapters on his life, travels, studies, and art, plates of the portraits (including several engravings), and a list of illustrations. Pages are untrimmed and one is unopened. Scarce. One of 1000 copies reprinted from the original 1924 edition. VG/G Wear and small edge tears to dj, but intact. Volume is clean and tight with minimal bumping to spine top and bottom.
