stapled booklet, 8¼" x 5¾", with card covers 26 pages Mary Crompton, just married and aged 20 years, wrote her journal on board 'S.S. Great Britain' on the return voyage from Melbourne, Australia to Liverpool, England in May - July, 1866. Her journey from Australia had used part of the Great Circle route - passing south of New Zealand, through icebergs and using the Howling Fifties, south of Cape Horn and north through the Atlantic Ocean. Each day she wrote an interesting account of the life on board. Has several maps and photographs. Booklet VERY GOOD condition.
