Trade Paperback. Condition: New. Family-owned bookshop in Steubenville, Ohio. Books shipped within 24 hours. Edited by our very own Ohio Valley author, E. L. Core! About the book: The exquisite poetry of John B. Tabb (1845-1909) is rich in technical precision and concise expression. His keen perspective looks carefully around, peers into the depths of the soul, and gazes up at the heights. Little in nature escaped Father Tabbâs notice: flowers; birdsong; the beating of the rain; the passage of sun, moon, and stars; the cycles of the seasons; and the march of the years. Everywhere, he saw reflections and heard echoes of the gamut of human experienceâ"loneliness and companionship, losses and rewards, regrets and hopes, man and God. He expressed the essence of his unique vision in a profusion of small poems. This collection of 244 poemsâ"most of which have no more than eight linesâ"displays the best of Tabbâs work, gathered into sets that showcase his various approaches to similar topics. With notes to help the reader with unfamiliar words and concepts, Long to Love and Memory brings John B. Tabbâs gems out into the light once more and sets them anew for a new century.

Condition: New. SB viii 102pp., 2003 N&MP Reprint of 1872 Original EditionPublished Price £14.50 This is an account of an Irish Mlitia regiment embodied in 1793 in the county of Tyrone and to be known as the â2nd, or Royal Tyrone Regiment of Militia,â a title it held till 1855. The Regimental HQ was in Strabane, the CO was The Marquis of Abercorn and the nominal roll of the 28 officers (including the Chaplain) is given. The âhere-today-gone-tomorrowâ aspect of the Militia is reflected in the fortunes of the Royal Tyrones. It was disembodied in 1802, reformed eight months later in 1803, disembodied again in 1816 (the threat posed by Napoleon had vanished), and was re-embodied once more in 1855, disembodied in 1856, re-embodied in 1857, disembodied in 1858 at which point I have become as confused as I imagine the officers and men must have been. But this account does give a good feel for soldiering with the militia: terms of service, dress, equipment, pay, bounties, parades, recruitment into the regular army, regular commissions for officers and splendid examples of correspondence and written orders. There are frequent lists of officers present for duty, in fact at each embodiment and disembodiment as well as regimental strength figures. I nearly forgot: the regiment received its Fusilier title in April 1855 becoming the Royal Tyrone Fusilier Regiment of Militia.
