This is a posthumos autobiography of one of the University of Michigan's most illustrious engineering faculty members and and a former Dean. This was an era when advances in technology were normally made by people who had no formal training in engineering as formal engineering programs were uncommon before the 1850's. Contains an index in the rear. There are a few spots to the front of original brown cloth binding with bright gilt spine and cover letterintand decoration, else this is a clean and tight book with no internal or external markings.
