Il registro qui pubblicato raccoglie scritti e documenti relativi alla costruzione della Fabbrica dei XIII Magistrati denominata poi Uffizi e copre il periodo dal 1560, anno di inizio de…i lavori, al 1570: si tratta di una corposa documentazione nota agli studiosi almeno dalla fine dell'Ottocento, che viene trascritta integralmente e corredata da un indice che ne consente l'agevole consultazione. Il manoscritto, conservato all'Archivio di Stato di Firenze, riporta sulla costola il titolo originale "Deliberazioni di partiti della fabbrica de' 13 magistrati". Diversamente da quanto indicato nel titolo però non registra solo le "Deliberazioni" e i "Partiti", cioè gli atti, ma anche memorie diverse relative alla costruzione dell'edificio e perciò è noto anche come "Memoriale". Nel registro sono indicati i nomi dei responsabili della fabbrica: dall'architetto Giorgio Vasari, ai vari capomastri, al cancelliere, ai cinque Provveditori. Sono annotati anche i metodi di assegnazione dei lavori; il meccanismo degli appalti a cottimo; l'organizzazione del cantiere; le specifiche delle materie prime, compresi i luoghi di estrazione o di approvvigionamento; le modalità di ingaggio della manodopera meno qualificata, spesso utilizzata in virtù dell'antico obbligo delle comandate. Questa preziosa raccolta documentaria fa luce sugli aspetti materiali e sulle componenti sociali che caratterizzano il più grande cantiere del Cinquecento fiorentino. Libro.
