Softcover. Condition: New. Reprint. Language: English. Approximately 62 pages. English: Print-on-demand reprint. Original edition : 1880. Text in English. This meticulously reproduced facsimile reprint of H.J. Comstock's 1880 work provides an exhaustive examination of artistic lounges, their architectural features, and their role in Victorian social culture. The text offers detailed descriptions of furnishings, decorative elements, and spatial arrangements that characterized these exclusive spaces. Particularly valuable for historians of interior design, this study documents the evolution of private and semi-public lounges during the late 19th century, reflecting broader trends in aesthetic taste and social stratification. The work includes numerous illustrations and technical specifications that make it an essential reference for scholars of material culture and decorative arts. This reprint preserves the original pagination and typography, maintaining the authenticity of the historical document while making it accessible to modern researchers. Book images are non-contractual.
