Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. There once was a semi-intelligent form of life that lived on a gorgeous, bejeweled blue rock orbiting a yellow dwarf star located in the arm of a barred spiral galaxy. Soon after they emerged from the depths of gross barbarity, this species - taking a fatal misstep - succumbed to hubris and…misapprehension of every kind imaginable. Utterly deluded in their tyrannical avarice, they became addicted to poison and began to go mad, trading life for death with the voracity of blind error. In fanatically pursuing hallucinations of their own invention, they managed to vacate the sacred from every aspect of their lives. Their world was thus profaned and polluted, and their lives, absolutely sterilized of all meaning and empathy, had become what can only be described as living deaths. First slowly and then more rapidly, and finally with frightful celerity, they smote and ruined their dewy planet, steadily and methodically preparing the way for their own extinction. What they distractedly called "progress" was in fact the frenzied excavation of their own burial site. Nonetheless, the venerable soul of their ancient green world simply smiled knowingly and persisted undeterred along nature's proper course, looking on dispassionately as another form arose and then passed away in the stately procession of her turquoise realm. This collection of poems records the impressions of one soul from among this race who tried with all his being to resist the macabre decadence and thwart the ultimate destruction of his kind. These poems recount his fevered despairs and unbowed imaginings as he attempted, feebly and hopelessly, through the terrible clangor of entropy and the garbled noise of a furious world, to recalibrate his spirit and return to the way of Life. This frantic dispatch represents the final attempt of a failing species to modulate the trajectory of its perverted development and somehow reverse the course of its ghastly collapse. Please let this catastrophe find meaning by taking these overwrought, dejected words as harbingers of some future life. This item is printed on demand. Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Neuware - This collection of poems is the record of a descent into the neurotic maelstroms and infernal abysms of neoliberal hell. It is a confrontation with the spiritual desert of the 21st century and all the dim beings who dwell there, chasing shadows, afraid of their own shadows, and trying to hi…de in the fire. These poems inaugurate an archaeology of repression, diving uninhibitedly into the maladies of the contorted psyche. There we find a madness that denies its own existence as it burns down its house, poisoning the Earth with the fumes of its rapacity and narcissism. But in the grotesquerie of this inferno - in doing the shadow work that the powers of this world neglect and let fester - we find a humanity immaculately preserved in the ash. We come to know that the Spirit is the thing that never dies: It rests immovable and endures as the profane world runs amok and flames out.T. Abbott Collins has published poems in small literary journals since 2011. His first collection of poems, Apocalyptic Clichés, was published in 2024. He released the experimental rap album silence exile cunning under the moniker looCcaM in 2023. Collins plans to publish four more volumes of poems and has started work on a novel. Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - The poems in this volume form a constellation of dream images collected on a modern-day shaman's journey. They hang together not by logic or narrative or theme but through the unseen and irresistible forces of the heart. Apocalyptic Clic…hés is an x-ray of a world gone wrong and a road map to somewhere else. It is a votive candle flickering in the darkness of tribulation. It demonstrates that real poetry is a work of the spirit, a make-ing, rather than facile emotionalism or narcissistic megalomania. Several of the poems in this collection have been published in literary journals and are reprinted here with permission. All images embedded in the work are AI generated. T Abbott Collins has published several poems in small literary journals since 2011. Apocalyptic Clichés is his first collection and was composed circa 2001-2006. He will be releasing several more collections of poems soon and has begun work on a novel. Visionary poetry for the 21st century, T Abbott Collins' work is inspired by the avant-garde poetic traditions of England, Western Europe, and the Americas of the19th and 20th centuries. His poetry draws from several schools of this period: symbolism, surrealism, imagism, futurism, and more generally, modernism writ large. Like William Blake and Allen Ginsberg before him - and who alternately serve as his Virgil - Collins deliberately places his work in dialogue with the Judeo-Christian prophetic tradition and considers beauty to be possible only where the human conscience is rigorously foregrounded. Tim, as known by family and friends, released an experimental rap album under the moniker looCcaM in 2023. He has also published scholarly articles on metaphor and sound in poetry, and more specifically on the work of Chaucer, Poe, Wu-Tang Clan, Jean Baudrillard and Jacques Lacan. He worked for several years as an adjunct instructor and has been working as an unwaged researcher and poet since 1999.
