Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book traces the history of a regional cooperative serving farmers in the American South, offering a glimpse into the development of agricultural practices and the vital role cooperatives have played in shaping the region's economic landscape. The book examines the cooperative's gr…owth from its humble beginnings as part of the Mississippi Farm Bureau in the early 1900s through its evolution into a multifaceted organization providing farm supplies, grain marketing services, and even poultry processing. The author details the cooperative's adaptation to changing agricultural needs, including the shift from cotton to soybeans and rice production, and its role in introducing innovations like pelleted fertilizer and the chill-pack process for handling poultry. The book offers a compelling narrative of how the cooperative has served its members and contributed to the prosperity of rural communities, highlighting the impact of cooperatives on agricultural development and the evolving role of farmer organizations in the modern economy. This book provides a fascinating window into the historical context and economic impact of a regional cooperative, illuminating the importance of cooperative ventures in the agricultural sector and showcasing the resilience and adaptability of these organizations in the face of changing economic conditions. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

Hardcover. Condition: new. Hardcover. Planktonic protists both produce and consume most of the primary production in the world ocean. They not only play key roles in the oceans but also represent an astounding amount of diversity: ecological morphological and genetic. However, for most taxa their ecology, morphology, phylogeny a…nd biogeography are either poorly known or appear to be largely unrelated to one another; this hinders our understanding of their biology as well as interpretation of emerging genetic data. Tintinnid ciliates represent a singular exception. Compared to nearly all other groups of planktonic protists, there is a very substantial and relatively detailed literature (both modern and historical) on tintinnids. This volume synthesizes knowledge concerning a wide variety of topics ranging from anatomy and systematics, physiology, behavior, ecology (including ecological roles, predators, parasites, biogeography, and cysts) to fossil history. It will appeal to an audience ranging from advanced undergraduates to researchers in the fields of Oceanography, Marine Biology and Microbial Ecology. Although planktonic protists play an important role in ocean ecology, they are genetically very diverse, making it difficult to draw conclusions on the group as a whole. However, tintinnid ciliates are a single, species-rich, sub-order with unique characteristics, and for whom ample information exists on their ecology and biogeography. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.
