Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book presents a collection of Psalm-tones and responses, meticulously compiled with the purpose of expanding the melodic diversity available to those using the Sarum Tonale, while maintaining its traditional framework. Drawing from ancient Continental sources, the author has introduced supplementary mediations and endings, many of which have been used throughout history in either England or on the Continent. These additions are clearly distinguished within the table for ease of reference, and the familiar Sarum endings have been retained for those who prefer them. Additional mediations are provided for Magnificat, and solemn mediations have been specially composed for use on major feasts. The author has taken great care to ensure that the music presented in this publication is accessible and easy to use. The commonly used B flat is the only accidental used in either the melodies or their accompanying harmonies, and the notation employed is that made familiar by the best modern plainchant editions. This book is an invaluable resource for anyone looking to deepen their understanding and appreciation of Gregorian plainchant, and it is sure to become a staple for those who wish to explore the rich musical traditions of the Church. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
