Mario Carli (1888-1935), scrittore, giornalista, poeta e diplomatico, è stato uno dei protagonisti della cultura italiana nel periodo tra la Prima Guerra Mondiale e l'avvento e il consolidamento del Fascismo. Veterano della Grande Guerra, personaggio indocile e dalla natura ribelle, fu fondatore di numerose riviste di avanguardia tra cui L'Italia futurista, Roma Futurista, La Testa di Ferro, L'Ardito, e il quotidiano L'Impero, dopo la sua definitiva adesione al Fascismo. Diede con il suo lavoro una coscienza politica all'arditismo e fu fautore assieme a Filippo Tommaso Marinetti di un "Futurismo politico". Tra i Sansepolcristi, nel 1919, all'atto di fondazione dei Fasci Italiani di Combattimento durante la storica adunata di Piazza San Sepolcro a Milano, prese successivamente parte con grande entusiasmo all'Impresa dannunziana di Fiume e alla nascita della Reggenza del Carnaro.
