"Sales/posting to the USA suspended". Hard cover dust wrapper 272pp b&w plates. A little wear on dw edges, else very good. The author tells of his experiences with the RAF. He includes details of his training in Egypt with only the bare minimum of navigation facilities, and his subsequent challenging operations through east and west Africa. He was granted a commission in 1936 and specialised in air navigation. After qualifying he was posted to the Air Ministry to rewrite the official air navigation manual. In November 1941 he returned to flying duties and commanded a squadron of Whitleys in the Battle of the Atlantic. He was then appointed Chief Navigation Officer at Coastal Command HQ.
