In the past 20 years, however, an increasing amount of evidence has accumulated to suggest that subcortical structures such as the thalamus and the basal ganglia may participate in specific aspects of mental activity. This is the first book to focus entirely on this issue. The collaboration of an international group of researchers, this volume clearly describes the clinical patterns of neuropsychological disorders found in patients with subcortical lesions, and accurately reports the results of animal research. New imaging techniques allow the disorders to be correlated with the size and site of the lesion. This comprehensive work discusses the pattern that emerges from these findings, which is essentially that cognitive functions are mediated by complex neural circuits involving both cortical and subcortical structures.

Aperto dalla dedicatoria di Lucini «Alla mia nobile Compagna» datata 15 giugno 1912, il volumetto pubblicato dalla G. Puccini & Figli del poeta-editore Mario Puccini (che aveva già dato alle stampe Le Nottole e i Vasi e con cui Lucini avrebbe licenziato anche l'Antidannunziana poco prima di morire) contiene l'opera drammatica Il Tempio della Gloria composto da Lucini con il co-autore Innocenzo Cappa diversi anni prima, ovvero al periodo in cui il teorico del verso libero collaborava stabilmente con «L'Italia del Popolo» di cui lo stesso Cappa era stato direttore tra il 1901 e il 1904. Accompagnato da ricche prefazioni e appendici, il dramma muove dal conflitto tra Russia e Giappone per il controllo della Corea e della Manciuria e la concomitante Rivoluzione russa del 1905.
