The Count of Cavour (1810-1861) was an Italian statesman, who worked with Napoleon III to eventually roust the Austrians from Lombardy. These are the intimate letters, translated from the French by Arthur John Butler, between the Count of Cavour and Mme. de Circourt, published posthumously.
