III). Im Dienst dieses Ziels hat der Verf. dieser Dissertation vielseitige Förderung von nicht wenigen Fachgenossen, namentlich seinen akademischen Lehrern, und dann von zahlreichen Bibliotheken erfahren. Dieser Hilfe wurde durch die vorliegende Arbeit entsprochen. Zu Beginn der Untersuchung werden die Textquellen für Longus, Achilles Tatius und Heliodor vorgelegt und, soweit möglich und schon an dieser Stelle angebracht, ihre gegenseitigen Beziehungen behandelt. Ungünstig wirkt es, daß nicht immer die alten abkürzenden Bezeichnungen für die einzelnen Hss, die sich eingebürgert hatten, beibehalten weiden, auch dort nicht, wo die Abänderung unnötig und nicht durch Rücksichten auf Möglichkeiten der Verwechslung gefordert war; so wird hier der codex Florentinus, den man fast allgemein seit langem sehr günstig in mnemotechnischer Hinsicht F oder Flor. genannt hatte, zur Hs A wie 1934 bei Dalmeyda. Man bedauert in diesem wie in anderen Fällen, daß D. sich nicht 0.
