Matching contemporary half-leather bindings - blue leather spines and marbled brown paper boards with blue leather corners. Spines decorated with five slightly raised bands, gilt lettered maroon title labels, and reddish-brown gilt lettered author/volume labels; spine ends scuffed; boards' leather corners bumped and worn; spines and corners have some surface abrasions. Boards rubbed with Vol. II's front board having some surface peeling. All edges yellow. Marbled endpapers. Ink stamps "Edw, Schuch." at top right of each volume's front flyleaf recto (set acquired from a Biloxi, Mississippi estate with no preceding provenance known); pencil underlining and margins marks amongst text; some interior foxing; Vol. I has past bookseller's pencil markings on ffep verso and rfep recto.
