Personenlexikon zu einer heute leider weithin vergessenen Traditionslinie des antileninistischen Kommunismus bzw. kommunistischen Anarchismus. Das Lexikon ist eine Fundgrube und eine Bereicherung der genannten Titel zum Thema. Es empfiehlt sich, das Buc…h bei der Lektüre neben sich liegen zu haben. Die einzelnen Beiträge variieren stark in ihrer Länge, den vorhandenen Grunddaten und inhaltlichen Ausführungen. Manchmal ist auch nur ein Name vorhanden, vielfach sind die Lebensdaten unsicher oder schlicht nicht bekannt. Die Herausgeber rufen dazu auf, an der Weiterentwicklung und der Schließung der Lücken mitzuwirken. Unverständlich ist, warum der Politiker Otto Rühle (1874-1943) fehlt, gehörte er doch zu den Mitbegründern der Kommunistischen Arbeiterpartei Deutschlands und war Mitglied der Allgemeinen Arbeiter-Union Einheitsorganisation. Das Vorwort der Herausgeber fasst den Rätekommunismus und seine Geschichte trefflich auf etwas mehr als vier Seiten zusammen. Der Band schafft es, die vielen, dem Rätekommunismus verbundenen Menschen dem Vergessen zu entreißen und ermöglicht es, die Reichhaltigkeit in all ihren Höhen und Tiefen der Bewegung anhand konkreter Personen nachzuvollziehen. Deutlich wird die übergroße Zahl an Männern. Der Rätekommunismus war eine männerdominierte Bewegung, Fragen der Geschlechterverhältnisse und -gerechtigkeit stellten sich nicht. Dies ist neben der schwachen Antisemitismusanalyse seine große Schwäche." (Sebastian Klauke) Gramm 600.

The present volume provides the most substantial history to date of this tendency in the twentieth-century Communist movement. It covers how the Communist left, with the KAPD-AAU, denounced 'party communism' and 'state capitalism' in Russia; how the German left survived after 1933 in the shape of the Dutch GIK and Paul Mattick's councils movement in the USA; and also how the Dutch Communistenbond Spartacus continued to fight after 1942 for the world power of the workers councils, as theorised by Pannekoek in his book Workers' Councils (1946).
