Einzige deutsche Ausgabe, in einem Exemplar aus der Bibliothek von Adam Chreptowicz (1768-1844), dem Sohn des polnischen Kanzlers Joachim Litawor Chreptowicz, mit dessen Stempel auf dem zweiten Blatt. - Seltene scharfe Kritik an Astrologie, Prophezeiungen und der angeblichen Zauberei durch den schwedischen Mediziner und Alchemisten Block (1669-1722). Er wird auch aufgrund seiner heftigen Ablehnung der Lehren des Paracelsus zu den schwedischen Frühaufklärern gezählt. A good copy.Waller 1143, with only eight preliminary pages including the original cancelled title with "Norköping" in stead of "Östergötland". With complimentary poems by J. Thun, L. Forsselius och A. O. Rhyzelius. The work is concluded with 28 case studies from the authors practice in Norrköping. The multi-talented physician Magnus Gabriel von Block (1669-1722) spoke eleven languages and was a diligent writer. After studies in Uppsala and extensive travels abroad, during which Block became acquainted with Leibniz and studied medicine, among other things, he became a district medical officer in Östergötland in 1702 and settled in Norrköping. In several of his works he fought against superstition and belief in miracles, phenomena which still had a stronghold in Sweden at the time. Some historians have mentioned Block as an important precursor of the enlightenment ideas in Sweden.
