Each page and illustration is an original chromolithograph with metallic inks densely applied. This w…ork is one of the major achievements of Ivan Iakovlevich Bilibin (1776-1942), illustrator and stage designer who was one of the stars of the Mir iskusstva movement in the early 1900s. Regardless of the turns in his stylistic path of evolution, Bilibin always found inspiration in the art and culture of medieval Russia. He is one of the most widely known and beloved of Russian illustrators. This copy is in very fine condition.
