Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book is an engaging memoir of a life lived across eight decades, offering a glimpse into a bygone era and its evolving social landscape. The author, reflecting on his childhood and early adulthood, chronicles significant shifts in everyday life, from the emergence of gas lighting and the steam engine to the development of the railway and the burgeoning popularity of the mail coach. His account paints a vivid picture of a world in transition, where societal norms were being redefined and technological advancements were rapidly reshaping daily experiences. The author's perspective, shaped by his own fascination with science and engineering, provides a unique and intimate look at the birth of these innovations and their impact on human progress. By weaving together personal anecdotes with broader historical context, the author reveals the profound societal changes that occurred during a period of remarkable upheaval. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
