Purple beaded cloth-covered boards with gilt vignette and lettering. Numerous, charming and humourous line drawings by the author throughout the text. Boards rubbed at edges, unevenly faded and sunned to spine. Front free endpaper, which carries neat previous owner's inscription, loose. Bastard title page tanned, otherwise neat, clean and tidy internally. Nice copy of this hard-to-find book. Bradley, Edward (illustrator).

I have to write hastily for our 3.45 post. | Believe… me dear Lady Huntly yours very sincerely obliged | [signed] Edward Bradley'. Reverse reads ' of the Dining room and Study - & some of the bedrooms - and also paint the whole of the outside of the house. Paperers also come in for various rooms. My children and governess will (I think) be able to get rooms at a neighbourig Farm house [.]'.
